October 5, 2013: Plans initially called for us to go hot air ballooning in celebration of Alison’s Dad’s birthday, but high winds kept us grounded, so John, Kathy, Lyrae, Bill, Tom, Karen, and us instead went to the Out of Africa Wildlife Park near Camp Verde. The park has an incredible array of animals and was well worth the time spent. Our favorite part was a tram tour of the enclosures where the driver called many animals up to the fences to give them snacks and tell us more about their behavior. Seeing the Hyenas was the highlight, though Brandon’s favorite part was being able to feed a tiger after the tiger show. In the evening, I headed to Oak Creek to photograph Cathedral Rock, and our group reconvened over dinner later that night to end the first stage of our trip.
